Forever Analytical, Inc., a tech startup with a novel approach to rapidly screen for PFAS chemicals in liquids and solids, has been named a finalist in the RALLY Pitch Competition, September 24 and 25 in Indianapolis. Forever Analytical is one of just five companies selected to compete in the Hardtech category and will vie for $1 million in venture funding to accelerate their startup.
The Pitch Competition is the centerpiece of RALLY, a global innovation conference that attracts thousands of entrepreneurs, venture capitalists, technologists, and others seeking to connect. The Pitch Competition features 25 finalists across five categories competing for a total prize amount of $5 million. Judging will take place over both days of Rally, which is hosted by Elevate Ventures, Innopower and Prolific.
Expressing gratitude for being selected as a finalist in the RALLY Pitch Competition, Forever Analytical CEO Hunter MacMillan said the event will draw attention to PFAS, also known as forever chemicals, that are linked to cancer, decreased immunity, infertility, developmental issues in children, and environmental contamination.
“PFAS are a threat to human health. There are thousands of PFAS chemicals, and they’re present in everything from firefighting gear to yoga pants; paint, furniture and carpeting; cosmetics and cookware; and baby products. Traditional testing methodologies detect just a handful of PFAS chemicals in water and wastewater—not near enough. Forever Analytical’s mission is to dramatically transform PFAS detection to protect the plant and people. What better stage than RALLY to get our technology in front of the innovation and venture communities.”
Forever Analytical is poised to transform the PFAS testing and monitoring industry with its proton beam-powered testing technology that can screen for the presence of thousands of PFAS chemicals with a high degree of accuracy and specificity in virtually any liquid or solid in less than three minutes. The patented process is also more affordable, encouraging rapid adoption by municipal water and wastewater treatment districts, environmental groups, consumer and industrial product manufacturers, and site remediation companies.
MacMillan says governments across Europe and the United States have or are in the process of enacting strict regulations on PFAS in water, wastewater, soil, and numerous products used in everyday life. Failure to comply will leave companies and public entities subject to fines or lawsuits. Consumers are also putting pressure on their communities and brands to ensure the products they eat, drink, and wear are fluorine free.
“Forever Analytical is currently generating revenue with our PFAS lab testing. We’re also commercializing field deployable systems for detecting and monitoring PFAS in real time, something that’s in high demand by mission critical industries like wastewater treatment and site remediation. Winning at RALLY would give us the boost we need to solve the PFAS detection problem faster,” he smiles.
