EINDHOVEN, The Netherlands – – Forever Analytical, Inc., has been selected as the recipient of a three-year matching grant by Eurostars, a Eureka innovation programme, to advance its rapid PFAS detection technology for use in the industrial wastewater industry. PFAS is a group of synthetic organofluorine chemical compounds (per and polyfluoroalkyl substances) that post a serious threat to the environment and human health.
Eurostars is an international funding programme for collaborative research and development projects led by innovative small- and medium-sized enterprises. As the world’s largest such funding programme, Eurostars supports the creation of innovative products, processes, and services for commercialisation.
As part of the project, Forever Analytical is working with Axine Water Technologies, a world leader in electrochemical oxidation technology for industrial wastewater treatment. Together, the two companies seek to establish new industry standards and on-site solution for the cost-effective detection and destruction of PFAS and other persistent organic contaminants. There are currently no effective PFAS treatment solutions that can destroy these harmful molecules on an industrial and economically viable scale.
Work on the project commenced in February 2025 and will conclude in 2028. The project will deliver a fully integrated, tested prototype of PFASGuard, an advanced wastewater treatment system designed to detect and destroy a wide range of PFAS compounds in a cost-effective, energy-efficient manner. This prototype will provide an efficient solution for removing PFAS from industrial wastewater, an area subjected to increasingly strict regulations across Europe and North America.
