The TRIPLE-A project is an EU-backed collaborative initiative that integrates advanced technologies to detect, capture, and safely destroy PFAS in various water streams to create a complete, sustainable water treatment solution.

PFAS, also known as “forever chemicals,” are increasingly found in Dutch water systems. These persistent and toxic substances pose serious risks to both human health and the environment. Removing PFAS from water is one of today’s major water treatment challenges. Current solutions are often still in development and rarely offer a complete, sustainable answer. The TRIPLE-A project was launched to change that.
A Complete, Collaborative Approach: TRIPLE-A brings together leading companies and research organizations to develop a single, integrated installation for PFAS treatment in water. The project focuses on three essential steps:
- Analyze: Detecting and identifying PFAS in water (Led by Forever Analytical).
- Adsorb: Capturing and removing PFAS from water (Led by NX Filtration).
- Abate: Destroying and breaking down PFAS (Led by No Waste Systems in collaboration with Utrecht University).
The full installation will be engineered and built by Turbin Industrial Water Solutions.
Scalable Solutions for Real-World Water Streams: By combining the latest technologies for PFAS detection, removal, and destruction, TRIPLE-A aims to deliver a practical and scalable solution for different types of water streams, including:
- Wastewater
- Surface water
- Drinking water
To ensure effectiveness, the integrated system will be validated and demonstrated in real-life conditions at Water Authority De Dommel and Attero in North Brabant.
With this collaborative approach, TRIPLE-A is working toward a more effective and sustainable way to tackle PFAS pollution—helping create cleaner water and a healthier environment.
